Welcome to Mirror Weaver Studios
I'm Shanda Louis.
Artist, writer, storyteller, teacher, explorer, and perpetual collector of beautiful questions.
For many years, I struggled to explain what connected all the different things I create.
The watercolor paintings.
The photography.
The mixed-media work.
The workshops.
The stories.
The frameworks.
The seasonal world of Harmony Hill and Annie's Henhouse Almanac.
On the surface, they seem like very different pursuits.
Mirror Weaver Studios is the home of that practice.
It is not one thing, but a collection of connected worlds.
Some are built from paint and paper.
Some from stories and imagination.
Some from systems, frameworks, and ways of navigating life's more complicated waters.
Together, they are expressions of a single belief:
That beauty can help us remember.
That creation can transform.
That connection can help us find our way home to ourselves and one another.
And because those reflections rarely arrive whole, I gather them from many places: art, nature, stories, questions, seasons, symbols, lived experience, and the countless small moments that shape a life.
I follow the thread between them.
That's the weaving.
So whether you've arrived here through a painting, a story, a workshop, a framework, or a curious little hen named Annie, welcome.
But over time, I began to notice the same thread running through all of them.
A flower becomes a doorway to wonder.
A story becomes a place of belonging.
A framework becomes a lantern in difficult waters.
A photograph becomes a moment remembered.
Again and again, I found myself pausing where something caught the light, then inviting others to stand beside me and look.
A reflection.
A pattern.
A possibility.
A piece of themselves.
That's where the mirror comes in.
